"I’m pretty sure the cycling test was 1955 as I learned to ride in the garden that year when I was 9 and was surprised I got a prize.  The playground was marked out into roads and junctions and you had to show you could do hand signals and positioning in the road, stuff like that.  I don’t know who handed out the prizes and it looks like Girl Guides watching."
