We are opening again!! (hooray) on Saturday 31st July.

And we are delighted to announce that this incredible A14 find will be on display over the weekend. It made local headlines, even enthralling the BBC!

And its going to be joined by another which will be brought over from the Norris Museum, St Ives. These decorated millstones are incredibly rare, Out of 20,000 Roman millstones on the Roman Province database, there are only four that bear a carved phallus. This one was made between the 2nd and 4th century AD. The event to celebrate the acquisition of Godmanchester’s Roman Millstone.

So come long at Saturday 31st July outside the QE School @ 2.30pm. Our Mayor, Councillor Cliff Thomas will welcome this rare artifact to the benefit of our citizens and Archaeologist Dr Ruth Shaffrey will speak for 7 minutes about the stone’s rarity and significance.
